ABOUT VISION ZERO YOUTH COUNCIL
The Vision Zero Youth Council (VZYC) was created in 2014 in New York City. After being active in the United States for over five years, the VZYC gained its first international chapter in Rwanda In February of 2020. In September of 2020, our chapter was created as the sixth Vision Zero Youth Council Chapter!
Our organization is dedicated to educating youth on traffic safety statistics and conditions in their respective communities, and across the world. Our goal is to empower youth to speak up and have their voices heard. We do this by creating partnerships with schools, non-profits, and government officials.
Our goals at VZYC Westborough are the following:
Improve traffic safety and pedestrian mobility around Westborough
Raise awareness about local traffic issues and mobilize youth to speak up about their concerns
Engage youth in town municipal government and increase overall civic engagement by empowering students
Work closely with councils and government departments
Collaborate with traffic safety initiatives (e.g. MAPFRE's Look Both Ways) to bring traffic-safety-education programming to Westborough youth
